Employee (December 1, 2023 - December 31, 2024)

RCS EMPLOYEES: School Board policy permits RCS employees to obtain a zone exemption to the school where they work, or into a nearby feeder school if the grade level needed for their child is not available in the school where they work. This applies to both certified and classified employees. Certified employees do not need to reapply each year unless their child is ready to progress to the next school. Classified employees must apply each year. When applying through the Scribbles platform, employees must select that they are an employee in order for the application to be processed as an employee exemption request.

Please note, pursuant to School Board policy, employees who live out of county are not eligible for slots at schools without a zone, including Central Magnet School, Holloway High School, Homer Pittard Campus School, McFadden School of Excellence and Thurman Francis Arts Academy. If an employee works at one of these schools and lives out of county, they may obtain an exemption to a nearby traditional school.

Employees who have questions about submitting a zone exemption request through the Scribbles platform should contact the Community Relations Department at 615-893-5812 or wallaces@rcschools.net.

Open Choice (February 15, 2024 - April 1, 2024)

Important! After running initial lotteries for our Open Choice applications, there are remaining seats still open at select schools. RCS will advertise which schools and which grade levels still have available openings. Residents of Rutherford County may now apply for those remaining openings, 2/15/24-4/1/24. After April 1, a second lottery will be run, and families will be notified of their application status via email. Email choice@rcschools.net with any questions.
